Vaccinations: |
International Travel Regulations vary from Country to Country. If you travel to a country where Yellow Fever can be contracted - many other countries will not let you enter without a current Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate. Individual countries have diseases that are more prevalent than in Australia and therefore vaccination is recommended to keep you safe from these diseases during and after your travels. If you are planning a trip, make an appointment to discuss your requirements early. Remember, some vaccinations need to be given over a six month time frame. Most though can be given by “rapid” schedule if necessary - but it is best to plan ahead. Try and find out what vaccinations you have had over the years. This will allow us to check whether you require a booster. The length of time you plan to stay in a country and the class of accommodation can all affect your recommended vaccination schedule. If you are not certain - always have optimal cover. Children, pregnant women and those with medical conditions require special travel advice - be certain to have a consultation before leaving. First Aid supplies and medication to treat common travel complications are a good idea. Especially if you are travelling to 'underdeveloped' countries. Australia has a very high standard of health care and it is not the same in other countries. Home prescriptions cannot be filled overseas. Take what you need from here. In many areas of the world drugs are mislabelled, out of date and potentially dangerous drugs are sold over the counter. Carry and store medications in a proper waterproof kit. Keep them cool and dry to maintain effectiveness of medications. Medications, Syringes & Needles you need to take should be listed on a letter signed by a Doctor. This includes simple analgesics. This will avoid any complications with customs. Several years ago a young woman was jailed in Greece for carrying headache tablets containing Codeine |
